Nonstick cookware is everywhere. It’s often cited as the perfect example of “better living through chemistry,” but maybe it’s not such a good example after all. Recent findings show that 95% of Americans have detectable levels of Teflon related chemicals in their blood. It is now persistent in the environment and toxic to pet birds and laboratory animals. This is another product that was released without adequate testing on an unsuspecting public, and the cover up continues. In fact, almost no human studies can confirm the safety of Teflon.

More Good News For Omega-3 Unsaturated Fatty Acids From Fish Oil

From Acres USA, the foremost eco agricultural magazine in the USA, and available to patients in my waiting room, comes this interesting bit of health news.

“A study of a computer-simulated community of 100,000 people (resembling the population of Olmsted County, MN) showed that a diet rich in omega-3 fats worked better for preventing death than defibrillators in homes and public places, even better than implanted defibrillators. Increased consumption of omega-3 reduced the overall death rate by 6.4%, defibrillators by 0.8%, and implants by 3.3%.”

How Can Wal-Mart Sell Drugs So Cheap?

On Friday, October 27th, the front page story in the K.C. Star was on the Wal-Mart Generics Plan entitled the $4 Drug Gambit. It suggested a Drug War between the big pharmacies. Wal-Mart is offering 314 generic prescriptions, approximately 25% of their line, for $4.00 for a one month supply. The program is now available in MO and KS, and is being offered in over 1000 of their stores. So the question arises, HOW CAN THEY DO THAT AND MAKE ANY MONEY?
