A problem in the
making. If there is an area where modern medicine
seems to shine it’s in the control of the microbe. Since the
advent of the antibiotic, medicine has been on the rampage to eliminate
death caused by microbes. Although world wide the microbe is still
winning; here in the industrialized world it is not. Advanced sanitation
and antibiotics have been credited for millions of saved lives.
What seems bizarre is that infectious diseases still remain a major
cause of death here in the U.S.A. The latest statistics show that
deaths caused by infections have risen from 1980 to 1992 by some
60%. That is a sobering statistic.
Why this is happening.
The problem seems to be smarter microbes. When microbes are subjected
to antibiotics for a prolonged period of time, they make adaptations.
These mutated microbes are then resistant or immune to the drugs
that killed their parents. In hospitals, where antibiotics are used
more than anywhere else, these mutant microbes have become a serious
problem, and it has been estimated that over 130,000 patients die
each year from infections caused by these antibiotic resistant microbes.
Obviously, a good idea would be to stay away from hospitals whenever
possible. Unfortunately, that’s not so easy to accomplish.
Adding insult to
injury. Adding to this dilemma is the damage done
to the good microbes, the beneficial gut flora, that lives inside
everyone’s intestines. Killing these good microbes along with
the bad ones has caused an epidemic of yeast/fungal disease that
is becoming accepted by modern medicine. This yeast/fungal disease,
a side effect of antibiotics, is found to contribute to many modern
diseases like Aids, Cancer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia,
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and Allergies, to mention just a few.
In fact, yeast/fungal disease of the skin, scalp, genitals, and
nails has become commonplace.
What are the alternatives?
Part of the answer is certainly to reduce the use of antibiotics,
but this is difficult in a society where doctors are pressured to
give the patient what the patient wants instead of what may be best
for them. Unfortunately, doctors are also often ignorant about the
alternatives. Preventics Colloidal Silver is a
wonderful product for the treatment of every kind of minor bacterial-yeast-fungal
problem. Absolutely great as ear drops for the child with earaches,
it is useful as nose drops for early sinus infections, and it is
even mild enough to be used as eye drops. Although prolonged use
of large doses can produce the same kind of problems attributed
to antibiotics, it takes pretty heroic long-term dosage to achieve
that. Nevertheless, some chronic diseases resist Colloidal
Silver. Some diseases like Chronic Cystitis simply need
something stronger.
Something stronger.
I have been clinical trailing something stronger for just over a
year that I have been very happy with. I learned of this new product
while listening to another alternative practitioner, Dr. Cass Ingram,
being interviewed on the radio. I was fascinated with his story.
Dr. Ingram claimed that oregano was one of the best natural antibiotic/antifungal
agents he had ever used. I was impressed with this, coming from
a medical doctor. He also claimed to have the only real oregano
powder and oil, and that the others on the market would not produce
the same response as his. I have some misgivings about his claim
to having the only real product, but I have tried his product and
it does what he says it will.
He also has a book that contains a treatment protocol
for most common infections, a chapter on how to use it for general
hygiene, and a multitude of testimonials. I use this book now as
a general guide when I am on the telephone talking to customers.
It would almost be more honest to call this a reference manual,
because that is how the book is designed to be used.
The products.
Dr. Ingram has formulated a treatment protocol for using the combination
of Oregano Oil and Oregamax (powdered oregano) for the treatment
of Acne, Animal bites, Arthritis, Asthma, Athlete’s foot,
through Venomous bites, Warts, and Wounds. He suggests the key to
success is getting the dosage right for each condition. I have been
impressed with the results I have achieved following his recommendations.
The Oregano Oil can
be taken homeopathically, via drops under the tongue; topically
for skin problems such as burns, bites, scratches, etc.; in juice,
water, or milk; or in pill form, which is what I most often recommend.
In pill form, it is necessary to purchase the empty capsules (Preventics
sells these, ninety for $5.00) and fill them with the Oregano
Oil. This is necessary because dosage varies from one condition
to another, and then as treatment progresses, it needs to be adjusted
to individual need. Oregano Oil is powerful and can easily
irritate sensitive mucous membranes, and when delicate areas are
involved I will usually opt for Preventics Colloidal Silver.
The Oregano Oil is used in conjunction
with powdered oregano, Oregamax. This is taken at a dosage
of one to six capsules per day depending on the condition treated.
According to the protocols and my experience, it is best to continue
the Oregamax after the Oregano Oil has brought
the symptoms under control for an indefinite period of time while
slowly reducing dosage. Some patients have been unable to discontinue
the Oregamax without an exacerbation of the original symptoms.
This has not been a problem, because the patients I have used this
regimen on have had only fair to poor results with everything else
and are delighted for the long-term relief. Anyone with chronic
Cystitis or chronic Candida can appreciate breaking the cycle of
living at the doctor’s office, and putting up with terrible
drug side effects while not getting relief.
Prices.
Oregano Oil and Oregamax are not sold under the
Vitalmins label, so I am unable to sell them to you at the huge
discounts you are used to with most Preventics products. However,
I do discount both Oregano Oil (.45 fl oz), and Oregamax
(90 capsules) from $29.95 to $25.00.
How to utilize these
new products. The various dosage amounts and conditions
that respond to oregano are too numerous to list here, but I make
recommendations during our Customer Service Hours when I answer
the phone personally. If you are struggling with a condition or
symptom that does not respond to regular medical or alternative
care, oregano may be the answer. Please don’t hesitate to
